8 a.m. “gig”

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Wednesday we all awoke extremely early to perform for the Universal Records sales staff (the people who’ll be selling the millions of copies of our album to the stores).
They we’re a really nice and appreciative crowd. We even received a standing ovation, which was completely unexpected from such a jaded, music loving crowd……at 8 am.
We then had the honor of signing the “wall of fame” next to 50 cent, Kanye West, and many other superstars.
I’m sure with the pending release of the CD, we’ll be doing more of this type of thing. Just not at 8 a.m……………….Right??

Broken strings.

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Ever want to get mildly lit and play Bowie songs in front of people? Yes? Then we all have something in common. Fun gig last night. Daphne broke not one, but TWO strings last night, which meant lots of microphone time for Eric while Daphne changed strings backstage. The good people of LA were not ready for that occurence!

TSQ shows are always an adventure. If you don’t believe us, come see for yourself.

Hot Augusta Nights

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Thank you to everyone in Augusta who came out to see us play at the Imperial Theatre last week. Leah, Daphne, Richard and I had a wonderful experience playing for you guys and hope we can do it again. We even got to play for a bunch of junior high school music students in the morning and their response was great.

Highlights: the beautiful theater and its brand new marquee, our friend Justin sitting in with us during the morning performance, the Soul Bar, checking out all the antique stores on Broad Street, the kindness and generosity of everyone we met and the warm repsonse we got from the audience.

See y’all in Georgia!

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Rock & roll ain’t always a party. For example, here we are at LAX waiting to fly to Augusta for our next gig and the flight has been delayed due to weather in Atlanta. Now it’s tough enough getting up at 5am to make it to the airport in time, and to then get delayed is not a good feeling. I don’t mean to complain because I don’t always have to get up at 5am like many people, but due to this new world we live in, traveling by air is not as fun as it used to be!

Anyway, sorry to wax on here but I’m incredibly sleepy…..

See y’all in Georgia!

New York City

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

My ears hurt! It’s cold! That steak was delicious! Martinis all around!

If you were here with us in New York City tonight, you would have heard all these things. Three intense days in the Big Apple await us, but today was for flying, imbibing, eating and cruising Times Square…..until it was too cold to go on. OK, we’re wimps, but it’s 34 degrees and we’re from California!

A moment in time.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

What a great day! I don’t mean to use this space as merely a place to toot our own horn(s), but last Tuesday was a pretty fun day. We started by playing a noontime outdoor show at UCLA to an enthusiastic crowd. Some had seen us at Coachella in 2004, some had never heard of us, but we sure got their attention. I even saw the Bruin Bear shimmeying to the beat.

Then at night we pulled into Largo and welcomed a bunch of new friends into the TSQ fold with a variety of songs from Led Zeppelin to Louis XIV. Grant-Lee Phillips joined us and reigned supreme. Paul Dempsey (of Australia’s Something For Kate) reunited with TSQ and brought down the house. And for those of you who missed the encore of Grant and Paul and TSQ doing Bowie’s Ashes to Ashes, well, it was a moment in time.

Check out the photos. Relive the joy.

Largo Rocks.

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

Largo was a blast on Tuesday night. Thanks to the great crowd, Peter Case and Sam Phillips, we had so much fun rockin’ out for our first Largo show in several months. The photo included here illustrates the rockin’ out quite well. With everyone seated and bellies full from dinner, Largo can be a tricky animal to tame, but the soothing sounds of Andrew Lynch warmed up the crowd and they were ready for us. I was very happy to see many fellow musicians in the audience. I also heard rumors of quite a few composers in their midst.

As always, thanks go out to Flanagan and the Largo crew. That will always be our home base!

Life is good…

Sunday, January 30th, 2005

January is coming to a close and it’s been a fantastic month. The Echo in LA has been our home for the past four weeks and we couldn’t have had more fun. We’re grateful to all the people who came out to see us, some more than once, and as Daphne likes to say, showed us the love! So many of you signed up for our mailing list and expressed to us that you enjoy what we do. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. And last night’s show with Irving and Eleni Mandell was the perfect end to our series of shows.

Next week we get to back up a killer band from New York called Elysian Fields. The show will be acoustic, with just singer Jennifer Charles and guitarist Oren Bloedow coming out west to play at Temple Bar in Santa Monica. Their new album is awesome and we’ll be playing a bunch of tracks from it. They just delivered their album to the record label two days ago so these performances will be amongst the first ever.

We’ve got so much more in store for 2005. I know we’ll be back on the east side very soon. In the meantime, back to the friendly confines of Largo in March, it’s almost baseball season and today is another beautifully picturesque day in LA. Life is good for us; we truly hope it’s GREAT for you!

The Echo.

Friday, January 21st, 2005

It’s January 21st. It’s early in the morning. It’s the night after our third Thursday in January show at The Echo. I know I speak for the entire band when I say that we’re really enjoying the shows at The Echo. It’s great to see new faces every week, but also people returning for multiple shows. It’s very flattering and encouraging that fans are choosing to spend time with us week in and week out.

So we have one more show next Thursday night that is going to be a doozy. We still have a lot of prep work to do for the collaborations, but I anticipate a great finale to end the residency. Though I for one will be sad to see my Thursday night activity go away for a while!

We also love getting email from those of you attend the shows!
