The Section Quartet travels to schools all over the country armed with the philosophy that the instrument you play doesn't have to dictate the type of music you make.

Th Section Quartet's interactive coaching methods encourage string students to find their own musical voice, kickstart their creativity and reignite their passion for orchestra.

Topics include:

Techniques for playing string instruments with rock & roll attitude

What it takes to be a professional musicians, no matter the genre of music

Writing, arranging rock songs for strings

How to start your own band

Up-close demonstration of how to work with effects pedals and amplification

The workshop, typically one school day long, culminates with a full evening show by The Section Quartet featuring collaborations with the school string orchestra.

The Section Quartet's Educational Program has been met with great success and rave reviews by teachers and students alike:

"Hands down the BEST day of the year, maybe even my entire teaching career.  One of my favorite parts of teaching is the moment when a kid realizes what he/she is capable of doing, and today that moment happened for two hours straight for 46 kids.  Orchestra is something to be proud of again"
-- Corey Hall, Orchestra Director, Middletown High School; Middletown, Ohio

"You are so inspiring to us.  I know personally, if I have a musically bad day, your music reminds me of my passion for playing.  You have impacted everyone at Fairmont [High School] so much!"
-- Ashley C., student, Fairmont High School; Kettering, Ohio

"Thanks guys for coming tonight!  We all had a ton of fun and learned lots!  You've really made me come to love orchestra again so thank you."
-- Taylor P., student, Reynoldsburg High School; Reynoldsburg, Ohio
